Measure (of a link)
A figure on a Flow link, always with whose dependence it is and what it is a share of.
A link is one flow between two companies, however many reports state it. Its figures are kept apart from how sure it is that the flow exists, and each one says who holds it: "22% of NVIDIA's revenue" is NVIDIA's dependence on a customer; "16.3% of Fabrinet's revenue" is Fabrinet's dependence on NVIDIA. Both can sit on one link, pointing opposite ways.
Inputs
- Holder. The company whose dependence the figure is.
- Denominator. What it is a share of: revenue, one segment's revenue, purchases, cost of goods, receivables, the supply of one input, volume, capacity or obligations. Figures of different denominators are never drawn on one scale or added.
- Period. The fiscal year the figure is about. A tagged customer share is one figure per year.
- Basis. Reported (stated), Calculated (Kereon's arithmetic over stated figures), Estimated, or Inferred.
How to read it
A link with no stated figure has no measure. It is never shown as 0%. On the Network's Map, a side's links are drawn wider by their figure only when every link on that side has the same holder and denominator.
Limitations
An annual report need not name a customer under 10% of revenue, and few name suppliers' shares at all.
Also called: measure, measures, holder, denominator, share of revenue, share of purchases, share of receivables, two-way.
