Revenue up-years and profitable years

The share of fiscal years on file in which revenue grew, and in which the company made money.

Formula

Revenue up-years = years revenue grew ÷ years on file
Profitable years = profitable years ÷ years on file

How to read it

100% is a clean record; the stability grade scores 40% worst and 100% best. Profitable in fewer than 80% of years is listed as a concern.

How to use it

A quick test of how dependable the business has been through its recent cycle.

Limitations

Only as many years as the filings on file — often four or five.

Also called: revenue consistency, profitable years, up years.
