A simulation of following one politician's disclosed trades, filled a set number of days after each disclosure was filed.
Inputs
- Defaults. $100,000 of starting capital, equal sizing, a 20% maximum position, filled at the close 2 days after the filing date, against SPY.
How to use it
Shows how much of a reported 'politician returns' figure survives realistic timing — try moving the delay from 2 days to 60.
Limitations
Simulated, not anyone's real portfolio: reports state value bands, arrive weeks late and may be a spouse's. Band midpoints size the positions and are flagged; there are no costs, dividends, leverage or short sales; unpriceable tickers are skipped and counted.
